I have really missed having Isaiah home during the day. I now realize how much of a companion he was to me. He's such a smart guy who could really have a conversation. I am glad to report that Isaiah has had a wonderful second week of school! No more crying. He actually looks forward to it most of the time. I also found out that he has a few crushes! I have to share this one story about Isaiah when I picked him up from school last week. Gabe was being cranky and needed a nap, so he was unwilling to help with Luke's passy. Luke was getting really upset but we were on the car line to pick up Isaiah, so there wasn't much I could do. There I was with two crying guys. We pulled up and Isaiah hopped in the car. He went goo-goo-gaa-gaa over Lukey, talking to him and trying to cheer him up. As always, I asked a million questions about his day, wanting to know everything! After a few, he whispered "Mommy, shhh, he's almost asleep". Oh, that warmed my heart! I am so thankful for these sweet boys that have been entrusted to me! Isaiah asked yesterday "When are you going to park and come in to get me?" so today, since the little ones weren't asleep in the car, we walked up and met Isaiah when he came out. I noticed a big yellow sticker on his shirt. The rest of his classmates didn't have a sticker. I did notice one older child with one. It read "good character". He said he got to be on TV! They chose him to come out of class and represent the kindergarteners for something they were filming about the school! I don't know the details yet, but the sticker says it all. My hope has been that he will learn to shine his light brightly, and boy is he ever!Friday, September 04, 2009
So proud of this guy

First Day of Kindergarten
My little spud is growing up...

I couldn't sleep last night. I had butterflies, as if I was the one going to school. This is such an exciting time, but bittersweet. The years of having all my children home are over. But every end has a new beginning. For Isaiah, it is the beginning of new friendships, new experiences, new memories. I am so excited for him. Can't wait to hear about his day... :)

Here are the kitties together again. It turns out the guy at the shop who took two of them decided he didn't want the responsibility of the kitty litter so after we watched them for him one weekend, we ended up keeping them! It was interesting to watch them greet each other. They were pretty unsure of each other at first, but as you can see here, it didn't take long...

Giant Green Beans!!!
Funny story. This morning, I got up and went for my run. I noticed the farm aroud the corner had a fresh truckload of corn, so I decided after my run to go get some. Gabe came with me. He helped me count out two dozen, and enjoyed playing with a caterpillar and talking to sweet Miss Daisy. We headed back to the house and I told Gabe we now had some work to do (shucking). As soon as he saw Isaiah in the front yard he yelled "Zay-a! You gotta see dis! We got giant green beans! Dey're HUGE!!!" I realized I had some explaining to do. :) Wait until he finds out where milk comes from! (he learned at a farm last summer when he milked a cow with my Mom, but I'm pretty sure the understanding hasn't sunken in yet)

My sister sent a package to the house...
breathe... breathe... inhale... exhale... "Are you kidding?" was going through my mind... Naturally, I grabbed the camera...
Wow. On her trip to Vegas, my sister was thinking about what to get her big sis! She is so thoughtful and such a joy to be around. I miss her. She always chooses the most luxurious things to spoil me with too. Every Christmas or birthday, she picks out the most beautiful nightgowns, robes, scarves, and now purses! I'm a little scared about getting spit up on it, but I am determined to use this bag and not hide it away in the box. A daily reminder of my sisters thoughtfulness and generosity. Love you Hil!

What a great weekend! Mom and her friend John flew in Friday afternoon just in time to catch Isaiah in his 2nd BMX race. After Mom and I learned NOT to cheer (as it was too distracting) Isaiah brought home 3rd again! We had some great laughs, like when Mom and John wanted to go for a run and Justin suggested a route that he thought was 2.3 miles and turned out to be 6.4!!! And they actually ran the whole thing! John had the boys laughing while making up a new card game :) As you'll see in one of the pictures below, someone caught the fish on fire! What an amazing dinner - trout, grouper, leeks and couscous! MMMM... And in case anyone was wondering, leeks DO have some nutritional value, right Mom!?

Isaiah's first BMX race!!!
Isaiah has been practicing at the BMX track pretty much ever since he started riding his bike without training wheels. Last night was his first official race - and we brought home 3rd!!! (never mind the fact that there we only 3 in his moto ;) They race three time and then a final, in which he grabbed 2nd! We are so proud of him for getting out there and sweating his brains out!

3 little monkeys
I just love when I catch the boys all interacting together. It makes my heart just flutter. I feel like at that moment, all is right with the world and that my efforts as a mother are somehow materialized. I don't know if that makes any sense, but it's just the best feeling. Siblings certainly are one of the best gifts you can give your children. I am so happy for them that they have each other. May their bond be strong...
