Happy Birthday to.... BLAHG!

Let me fill you in on Gabe's unforgetable birthday! :(
Everyone seemed fine right up until dinner, when Isaiah wouldn't eat. I went to light the candle on Gabriel's ice cream cake and Isaiah threw up. Yum! Who want's cake?! Gabriel's been fine. He's only upset in the picture because I was in the middle of feeding him some yogurt when we stopped to sing. Isaiah got sick one more time in the middle of the night, and seems perfectly fine this morning! Yeah! We will have Gabe's postponed party sometime this weekend. I can't believe he's one year old! I was telling a friend the other day that I'm still going to call him by months rather that years! I'm just not ready for him to grow up yet! He'll be 5 years old and I'll be saying he's 60 months! :)

Live and Learn...

I tried to take a quick shower this morning while the boys were playing nicely in Isaiah's room. I usually put Gabe in the excersaucer in the bathroom with me but I decided to try just letting him play since I wasn't going to wash my hair. It turns out it was Isaiah who I should have put in the excersaucer!!! This is what I found when I got out. Thankfully they were not real crayons, but the kind you use in the bathtub, so they wash off just like soap! Anybody have an extra excersaucer lying around that would fit a 3 year old? :) :) :)
I must add that my sweet little trouble-maker cleaned it up all by himself... because I said so.

Early birthday for Gabe... or Isaiah?

Gigi and Old Bob sent some birthday gifts to Gabe, but Isaiah was sure the "football guy" outfit was for him! Surprisingly enough, it fit him! It was an 18 month outfit and he's 3! The nice brother that he is let Gabe have the toy though. :)
Gabe didn't seem to mind one bit. At the rate he's growing he'll be dominating here in about 6 months!!!

Silly Baby!

Gabe got into Isaiah's drawer this morning and thought it was very cool to wear sweatpants on his head! He has been crawling around all morning putting the sweatpants back on his head every time they fell off! We had a great visit from my parents this weekend! Isaiah had fun climbing on Grandpa and playing his version of hide and seek (where Isaiah jumps out of his hiding place when you count to ten :) And Grandma's idea of buying Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land (two Herbert childhood favorites) was a great hit, although it always seemed to be Isaiah's turn! When Isaiah woke up this morning and Grandma and Grandpa weren't here, he wasn't a happy camper. He was already asking to play "Shootin' Ladders"! :) We can't wait to get up to the lake this year! Thanks Mom and Dad for a great weekend! We love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A day at the park

It reached nearly 60 degrees today! The boys and I enjoyed some time outdoors. Too bad it's going to turn cold again :(

A trip to the Greensboro Science Center

The giant T-rex! He even growled!

They had a great water table! The kids could have played here for hours!

This picture definitely doesn't do the turtles justice. They were so cool! They didn't even look real!

It SNOWED!!!

How fun to watch a three year old explore in the snow for the first time! It was perfect timing too, because yesterday Isaiah was watching one of his favorite shows, Curious George, and it was about snow! After we played for a while we came inside and had hot chocolate just like George did! Happy Snow Day :)

Justin has been out of town all week. Anne and I decided to do some redecorating! We painted the walls a color that I had seen at my Mom's house over Christmas. I found some fabric dirt cheap and snatched it up. Anne helped me make these curtains. It's fun to change things every once in a while! I'm definately looking forward to Justin coming home!!! Six days is long enough!

2 reasons why I love my job...

#1 & #2
Isaiah's been doing such a great job using the potty (not that we don't have our accidents) and being in quite the Christmas spirit, he called me in to the bathroom the other day and shouted "Look Mommy, I made a candy cane!!!" Sure enough, it looked just like a candy cane! My boy is so talented!!! :)

Christmas in Hoboken

Well, we certainly had a memorable Christmas. It got off to rocky start and we had our share of mishaps(two of us being sick, and going through 3 different cars to complete the trip) but getting to see my family made it well worth it. We enjoyed the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular show and great food, as always. Mom and Dad were very generous with the kids as you'll see below. It seemed they enjoyed the giving part just as much as the kids enjoyed the getting part. Well almost!

I feel EXTRA proud today...

Isaiah pooped on the potty for the first time today!!! And it was HIS idea! He's very proud of himself too!!! These kinds of joys of motherhood make my heart feel so tickled! :)

In search of a decent Christmas card picture...

I won't lie...

...it wasn't pretty...

...blood was spilt, punches were thrown, but in the end we walked away with one decent shot.

Merry Christmas!

Hallelujah!

Isaiah is potty training!!! As many of you know, I have recently struggled with getting Isaiah excited about using the potty. I have sought out advice from the best of the best (ie: Shannon, Meredith, Andra, to name a few) and decided to let it go for a while. Yesterday I decided to ask him to use the potty and he sat right on it a peed! So for the rest of the day he didn't wear a diaper and he used the potty every time! But.... there is a catch.... he won't wear underwear. So, yes, he walks around the house butt-naked. We bought spiderman underwear, nascar underwear, even the Cars movie underwear. He is totally not interested! So, now I have a NEW dilemma: how do I get my potty training child to wear underwear!!! :) Oh well, guess you can't win 'em all! ;)
